Beautiful paperbacks for New Directions. The handwriting on She-Devil is by Jennifer van Dalsen. Both are uncoated. In She-Devil, an unreliable narrator delivers a feverish monologue about the murder of her best friend, both upper-class women from El Salvador. In No Longer Human, a Japanese man is incapable of feeling a part of or operating in a human society. This was originally published in 1973.
"No Longer Human" is one of the most efficiently perfect covers I've seen in some time. One blob, two colors, simply perfect.
